In 1913 George Ross and a friend Horace Green made an adventurous Malcolm Macdonaldjourney from London to Thule House in Tobson to visit his grandaunt Annabella (sister of ‘an Domhnallach, Tigh a Chaolais). George took a number of photographs on his visit to Bernera as a reminder for his grandmother Mary in London of her relatives back home. Sixteen of those images were later discovered and gifted to Bernera museum by Graham Miatt. Neil John Macaulay


The late Dr Malcolm Macrae, who was married to Margaret Macdonald ‘Mairead Dochart’ , 7 Kirkibost, was a keen photographer and through his photography left a valuable record of the work carried out at Loch Risay Lobster pond.


School photographs dating from 1920s up until the present day are held in the museum.
